About Us

We are the makers of probably the finest collection of freshly pressed apple juices anywhere in the world, as well as Big Tom spicy Tomato Juice and the Great Uncle Cornelius collection of traditional non-alcoholic drinks.

But here are some things you might not know...

2008 HAS SEEN THE LAUNCH OF MANICORGANIC AND HEARTBEET

We are based in Suffolk at Whites Fruit Farm in Ashbocking about 8 miles north of Ipswich, where we have been since 1993. Originally the business was started in the 1980s (by James White) as a cider maker but when it went bust in 1989, I bought the assets and started it again from scratch as an apple juice producer. I had been involved as one of the founders of New Covent Garden Soup Company and wanted to create my own baby! I kept the name James White because it sounds more yeoman English farmer than my own - a bit too City Gent!

The secret behind our business is that freshly pressed apple juice tastes really delicious. Ever since we got started, I have been dreaming up ways to win converts to this simple fact, so now:
- we offer individual varieties of Bramley, Cox and Russet ( you expect that with wine so why not apple juices);
- we filter freshly pressed juices so they look more attractive without losing any flavour or aroma (completely unlike reconstituted concentrates);
- we blend them with complementary fruits/vegetables/other (blackcurrant, raspberry, cranberry, carrot, elderflower and cinnamon);
- we offer a Soil Association certified range of unfiltered organic juices;
- we created a Lemon Refresher and Ginger Beer using our own secret ingredient - apple juice of course to sweeten them instead of sugar.

Over the last 18 years, the apple juice business has grown steadily, and we now supply many specialist retailers like farm shops, garden centres, delicatessens and wine merchants as well as caterers, restaurants, coffee and sandwich shops, pubs and hotels all over the country.

Big Tom however is not made from English apple juice! I simply love Bloody Marys and found it infuriating that you could not get a good one anywhere other than a few proud individualistic outposts. This, combined with the fact that I have neither the patience nor the knack of how to make one myself, got us started on Big Tom in 1996. It has taken us in different directions to the apple juices, but a bit of variety spices life up. We were granted a Royal Warrant in 2002 by Her Majesty The Queen for Big Tom and it has been a big hit with or without vodka with almost everyone who has come across it.

I hope enjoy looking round our site and for those of you who are not familiar with our juices, be brave and try them out. You will not be disappointed!

Best wishes,
